The Care Center is a licensed long-term care facility that provides skilled and intermediate nursing care 24 hours per day. The facility is certified by both Medicare and Medicaid programs. Unlike larger institutions, our 42 bed facility provides a warm homelike environment.
The Care Center is part of Pohai Nani, Hawaii's Good Samaritan Retirement Community, which offers a resort-like atmosphere, situated in an attractive residential area overlooking the beautiful Koolau Mountains in Kaneohe.
Pohai Nani is part of The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, a non-profit corporation based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Since its inception in 1922, the Society has been regarded as a sound leader in the health care field. Today the Society, which operates more than 240 facilities in 25 states, remains committed to its mission: To share God's love in word and deed by providing shelter and supportive services to older persons and others in need, believing that, "In Christ's Love, Everyone Is Someone." Pohai Nani is a loving, Christian community that fosters friendship and a sense of belonging among people of all faiths.
Services
By assessing the needs of the individual, through care planning which addresses physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs; tailoring activities to the residents' capabilities and interests, we provide a holistic approach to caring for our residents. The active opportunity to be a part of the functioning of their home. A Social Services professional is available for counseling, referrals and overall coordination of the residents' care plan. The goal of the Center is a full and meaningful life for each person, retaining or regaining skills that enable self-sufficiency and enhance self-esteem.
Rehabilitation
The progressive rehabilitation department provides therapy services for both Pohai Nani residents and individuals in the community. Our skilled therapists and spacious therapy room can meet a variety of rehabilitation needs including: pain management, treatment of muscle dysfunction, wound care, stroke rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation and arthritis management.
Our rehabilitation team is committed to improve the quality of life and maximize each person's level of independence.
Beautiful Kaneohe
Kaneohe has a mild and temperate climate, relatively free of uncomfortable extremes. The trade winds provide a system of natural ventilation and cool, fresh air with enough rainfall to keep the landscape green year round. The average temperature is approximately 75 degrees. The annual rainfall is about 65 inches.
Kaneohe is a highly desirable residential area. The warm ocean waters, the natural backdrop of the lush Koolau Mountains, and the profusion of exotic flowers and fruit blend to create one of the world's most beautiful settings.
